Young people doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award at all levels often come to The Shakespeare Hospice to do their volunteering aspect of the award. The majority volunteer in one of our shops, where they get to learn about displaying merchandise, sorting donations and customer service. We also have young people volunteering in our shops who are not doing Duke of Edinburgh.

We occasionally have opportunities for young people to volunteer with our Young People’s Services, for example with our Young Carers’ Group or on occasional activity days for children and young people. These positions are subject to an interview, enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.

There are one off and regular volunteering opportunities with our fundraising events. We often need marshals, bag packers and volunteers to take part in activities.

For the families we support, we can offer volunteers to stay at home with a patient while the carer attends the Hospice or other appointments.
