Young Carers

Echoes supports children and young people facing or experiencing loss. Support is available to young people under the age of 18 who help care for a family member who is seriously ill.

Very often young carers will take on extra practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities, for example looking after siblings, doing the housework, providing emotional support or helping the ill person with activities such as washing and dressing, in order to help the family. It is important that these young people feel valued and supported at a time when everything around them at home is changing.

We work closely with Warwickshire Young Carers’ Project to provide support to young carers in our local community.

For more information on our Echoes Young Carers’ Service please contact Alison Burford (Family Support Practitioner) on 01789 266852 aburford@theshakespearehospice.org.uk.
