HELP AND SUPPORT FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY DEMENTIA

There are currently 750,000 people  who have dementia in the UK. This number is steadily rising and by 2025 it is estimated that over a million people will be affected by dementia.One third of people with dementia live in a care home whilst the remaining two thirds live in the community being cared for by carers or family members.

Caring for someone who has dementia can at times, be difficult and challenging. It often brings with it a number of questions, anxieties and concerns.

Help and support is available from The Alzheimers Society who can provide a wide range of up to date information www.alzheimers.org.uk, along with a helpline which can be accessed Monday to Friday 8.30am - 6.30pm, 0845 300 0336.

More locally, there are a number of services available in South Warwickshire. These include, regular support cafes, community support service, independant advisors and a day care service.
