NEW HOSPICE PRESIDENT
The Shakespeare Hospice has announced Richard Miles as its new president. Richard is a well known figure within the Stratford community and brings a wealth of local knowledge to the Hospice following a successful business career. Richard follows in the footsteps of former presidents Diana Coupland and John Nettles - he says that he sees himself as an ambassador for the Hospice, and will endeavour to ‘do all I can to bring its work and name to as many people as possible.’
Duncan Forbes, chief executive of The Shakespeare Hospice, said, ‘we are very fortunate in having somebody of Richard’s ability, energy and experience helping us to re-establish old friendships and forge new links with our local community.’ Richard has a long association with the Hospice, and as a trustee and chair of the appeals committee played a major role in turning the idea of a hospice for the people of South Warwickshire into a reality.
Richard begins his presidency at an exciting time for the Hospice, with an increased Hospice at Home service, a new information and support drop-in centre as well as a refurbishment of the palliative day care centre, leading up to tenth anniversary celebrations in 2009.
