Community Events - Virtual Exercise Challenges

01 March 2020

What do I do if I have to self-isolate? How do I stop the boredom? How does social distancing affect me? Can I go out to exercise?

During these uncertain times, many people are asking many of these questions.  Whilst the government has enforced lock down, social distancing and self-isolation for those who show symptoms, they also recognise that exercise is important for health and wellbeing.

Our community are very much in our thoughts at the moment and we are encouraging people to remain positive, engage with each other albeit not face to face and not feel lonely through isolation.

Beat the boredom and stay healthy with our fun walking and climbing challenges.

Take part in our Walk all over Covid-19 initiative which you can do in your own time, anywhere you want whether that’s in your local park, out in the countryside or just round the block (but do remember to keep your safe distance from others!)  Challenge yourself and choose your weekly distance, feel the benefits from exercise, stay healthy and walk all over this virus!

If you can’t get out of the house, why not try our Rise above Covid-19 Challenge.  Choose a mountain, climb it and rise above this virus!  Take to the stairs, stay healthy and step your way to the top of Snowdon, Ben Nevis or Scafell Pike.

We’ve created some fun free downloadable sheets that you can print off and track your progress (walking sheets are on their way)

Take feel good, funny or amusing pictures on your walks and climbs, post them to your social media and tag us The Shakespeare Hospice @ShakespeareHospice, @TheBardsHospice, don’t forget to add #TSHwalkallovercovid or #TSHriseabovecovid  and we’ll send a prize to the one that we believe will raise people’s spirits the most at this difficult time!

The Shakespeare Hospice recognises the impact Covid-19 will have to many businesses and charities, we will now be operating in very challenging times to maintain the financial stability for the Hospice. We will continue to work hard to raise the funds we desperately need. On behalf of our staff and patients, thank you for your continued support.

These walking activities are for bringing the community together and cost nothing to take part in but if you would like to make a donation to The Shakespeare Hospice, please follow this link to our Community Appeal page
