Summary of role

To work effectively and efficiently to maximise income for the Hospice. Focussing on sales, merchandising, stock rotation and excellent customer service, you will provide relief management support and lead a cohesive team to raise funds for and promote the work of The Shakespeare Hospice within the local community.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Maximise sales targets of the Charity shop through effective merchandising, stock control and display techniques
  • Deliver the highest standard of courtesy and service to customers and those donating goods
  • To actively seek ways to improve the stores performance on a continuous basis
  • To manage all aspects of stock preparation; ensuring that the shop is sufficiently stocked; encourage donations
  • To meet required performance standards and targets.  Motivating and supporting shop staff and volunteers in the achievement of Key Performance Indicators
  • To manage a team of staff and volunteers
  • Ensure the staff and volunteers are operating in line with Hospice Policies and Procedures and representing the Hospice appropriately
  • Ensure that Policies and Procedures including Health and Safety, Manual Handling and Fire regulations are followed
  • Ensure trading hours and security arrangements are adhered to
  • Ensure that the shop premises are clean and tidy and that goods are well presented at all times
  • Organise and manage acceptance, sorting and pricing of donated goods; keeping the work area organised and clean
  • To be responsible for cash handling, banking and associated administration, ensuring that all till operations are carried out in accordance with Hospice policies and procedures
  • To maintain a good standard of housekeeping which creates an environment that is both pleasant and safe for customers, shop staff and volunteers
  • To present a positive and professional image to customers, staff and volunteers at all times
  • To promote the Gift Aid scheme in their shop to meet the required performance targets for both Gift Aid income & sign up of new donors
  • Actively promote the store to generate regular donations and active customer base
  • To ensure at all times their shop complies to Hospice branding standards and policy
  • Undertake any reasonable duties in line with business requirements

The Hospice has six charity shops selling a variety of new and donated quality goods. Opportunities are available in all six of our shops.
