The Shakespeare Hospice is delighted to announce the appointment of Tim Cox, Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire, as its new Patron.
Tim brings a wealth of experience, a lifelong commitment to public service, and a profound connection to Warwickshire to his new role with the Hospice.
Tim Cox has worked in Warwickshire for over 40 years, establishing a distinguished career as a Chartered Surveyor. In 1986, he founded Tim Cox Associates in Birmingham, later moving the business to Stratford-upon-Avon in 1997. His significant contributions to the local community include chairing the Warwickshire Poppy Ball Committee for 15 years, during which time he raised substantial funds for the Royal British Legion.
In addition to his professional and charitable work, Tim has served in several prominent civic roles. He was appointed High Sheriff of Warwickshire in 2011-2012, and in 2013, he succeeded Sir Martin Dunne as Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire. In this prestigious role, he hosts visits from members of the Royal Family to the county, promotes The King’s Awards for Enterprise and Voluntary Service, and seeks out individuals for national recognition.
As Patron of The Shakespeare Hospice, Tim will use his extensive expertise and influence to support the organisation’s mission of delivering compassionate care to patients and their loved ones in the local community. His unwavering commitment to Warwickshire aligns perfectly with the Hospice’s dedication to improving the quality of life for those facing life-limiting illnesses.
Tim takes over the role of Patron from Sir Peter Rigby, who stepped down as Patron of The Shakespeare Hospice in September after seven years in the role.
Speaking about his appointment, Mr Cox said: "I am truly honoured to join The Shakespeare Hospice as Patron. This remarkable organisation provides an invaluable service to our community, and I look forward to supporting their outstanding work in any way I can."
Tracey Sheridan, CEO of The Shakespeare Hospice, commented: "We are thrilled to welcome Tim Cox as our new Patron. His longstanding dedication to Warwickshire and his exemplary public service make him an ideal ambassador for the Hospice. We are confident that his involvement will help us continue to grow and reach even more people in need."
