Why do I need a Will?
Making a Will is the most important thing you can do to protect your family’s future.
Whether you are moving house, getting married, starting a family or undergoing any other change in your circumstances, by writing or updating your Will you can rest assured that, should the worst happen, your wishes will be carried out.
According to research over half of UK adults (51%) haven’t made a Will, and nearly a third (30%) of those over 55 do not have a Will.
A Will ensures that your estate is left to the people you choose and not subject to certain rules which dictate how your money, property and possessions should be allocated.
A Will gives peace of mind and protects your family.
Did you know?
- If you have children, you can make provision for their care by naming a guardian in your Will.
- Unmarried partners and partners who have not registered a civil partnership cannot inherit from each other unless there is a Will in place.
- A gift to a charity in your Will is free of inheritance tax and can reduce the amount of inheritance tax you pay
- Leaving just 1% of your estate to a charity in your Will means that you leave behind a lasting legacy while still providing for your loved ones.
